Motivate students with adaptive reading lessons that enhance reading instruction

Let us help you reach each of your unique readers in your classroom with student-centered reading practice that builds reading knowledge, skills, and confidence.

Reading Practice That Truly Enhances Instruction

Our online reading practice is revolutionary because we can assess reading proficiency and teach skills at the same time. How do we do it? We started by removing multiple choice questions because we wanted to mirror excellent, pedagogically sound reading practice that happens in the classroom. Then, we embed our reading assessments so that teachers don't lose valuable instructional time to long, exhausting tests. Instead, we build skills while students assess. We ensure learning never stops. From direct instruction of literacy skills to online practice, students gain access to more reading experiences throughout the year. As their reading knowledge grows, students will become more skilled at reading in all subject areas and achieve higher reading scores.
Let Us Show You How We Are Different...

Real-Time Feedback

Instant feedback is central to every learning moment. In fact, the targeted feedback that we automatically provide is what motivates students to learn. We want all minds on all the time. Giving quality reading feedback is how we do it.

With our Real-Time Feedback, you can...
  • deliver differentiated lessons to every student in the moment to help them improve.
  • enhance reading instruction with targeted instruction that directly address students' learning needs.
  • effortlessly celebrate achievement, identify next steps, and allow students to set goals for their own learning.
  • ignite thinking with second chance opportunities that allow students to understand their mistakes and fix them.

How it works:

Students practice reading online and receive personalized feedback after every decision they make. At the end of a Quest (a reading lesson), students can see their results, review their achievements, and continue learning by clicking on videos that explicitly teach standards they are still learning.

Differentiated Scaffolds

The best kind of scaffolds are immediate and tailored to students' needs. Our differentiated scaffolds are designed to help lift students up so they can successfully meet our high expectations.

With our Differentiated Scaffolds, you can...
  • accelerate vocabulary development with our Language dictionary that defines and contextualizes words and phrases so students understand how they are used in context.
  • help students focus on a specific section of text when they are struggling to identify the answer.
  • instantly deliver video tutorials, tips, word banks, text-to-speech, and infographics to help students meet reading standards.
  • translate questions and reading passages in any language to support your students who are learning English.
  • give students voice and choice in selecting the scaffolds that work best for them which increases motivation.
  • Learn more about how we support multilingual learners.

How it works:

Students have access to scaffolds when they read with us. Some scaffolds like translating text, text-to-speech, and our proprietary language dictionary are always available. If students miss a question, we open up a toolkit that allows students to choose additional scaffolds like paragraph numbering, text chunking, and tips and tutorials.

Highly Engaged Learners

Our reading lessons adapt to students current reading levels and use positive feedback, goal setting, and gamification best practices. Students earn badges when they answer multiple question in a row and game currency to customize their reading experiences. 94% of students who read with us are highly engaged and motivated.

With Highly Engaged Learners, you can...
  • meet students where they so they feel comfortable and confident as they learn and grow.
  • build critical content knowledge and vocabulary as they read high-interest texts from popular topics in science, history, and ELA.
  • deliver routine-based learning so students master an effective process for deep reading comprehension.

How it works:

We care deeply about how students feel about themselves as readers. That is why we deliver readings that meet students where they are and work to gently push them up. We also recognize that students are intelligent and capable of doing hard things. We issue each student full-length texts and set high expectations for learning no matter the reading level. Everything we do is standards-based and designed to promote critical thinking and engagement.

Transferable Reading Skills

Students learn and rehearse reading skills that transfer to various reading tasks across subjects. As students' reading knowledge grows, they become more skilled at independently reading challenging texts.

With our Transferable Reading Skills, you can...
  • build reading skills and reading confidence.
  • deliver standards-based reading skills for argument, informational, and narrative texts.
  • sharpen analytical and critical thinking skills essential for text-dependent writing tasks.
  • learn and rehearse a research-based reading process that can be used to attack reading tasks in all subjects.
  • master essential deep reading skills like identifying the main idea, determining a central claim and evidence, and analyzing text structure.

How it works:

Every time students read with us, they practice essential reading skills that students can use to successfully read in any subject. As students master college and career readiness standards and skills, they become strategic readers and more rhetorically flexible.

Let Us Show You How Our Online Reading Practice Works...

Effortlessly Onboard Students

How it works for the Classroom Teacher:

Once you create your account, you can add students. Student sign-up takes approximately 90 seconds. Students can use their Google accounts or create an account with unique user names and passwords.

Adding students to your class is a snap. Simply project your Class Code so your students can see it.

How it works for the Students:

Students add your Class Code and instantly appear in your class. You can also invite students to a class with a Class Code invite link.

Quests (the name we give our reading lessons) will automatically appear in students' accounts as long as your class is set to Autopilot release. If you want more control of when students complete Quests, edit the class and change Delivery to "Manual Release." This will allow you to release your Quests when you are ready.

Go On A Quest

How it works for the Classroom Teacher:

We call our reading lessons "Quests." Our Quests are reading practices that change based on what each student needs. Quests are set to release automatically directly to students unless you change your delivery method to "Manual Release."

Students engage in reading high-interest texts 1 to 3 times every week, depending on how much you want them to read with us.

How it works for the Students:

Each Quest asks students to reread the same text multiple times for different purposes. A Quest has 10 questions, so students get a fair amount of deep reading comprehension practice with every lesson. A Quest usually takes about 12 to 20 minutes, but if writing is turned on, it can take up to 45 minutes.

Feedback and Conferencing

How it works for the Classroom Teacher:

Students need more opportunities to go over their data. Every two weeks, we recommend conferencing with your students about the following topics:

  • Quest results
  • Question level details
  • Achievements (it's always good to celebrate)
  • Challenges met (blue diamonds)
  • Goal setting and progress

How it works for the Students:

While students read with us, they will receive instant, personalized feedback about how they are doing. At the end of a Quest, students have access to a results page to see how they did overall. Our digital coaches offer customized feedback and video tutorials that build foundational knowledge of a standard they are still learning.

Activity Dashboards

How it works for the Classroom Teacher:

You can stay up to date on student progress through Activity Dashboards. Select a class and see what your students are currently working on and what they have completed.

We use two colors, green and yellow, to quickly communicate how well your students are doing with their reading activities. Green means your student is doing great, meeting expectations, and earning good reading scores. Yellow means your student might need some help, is not trying, or not scoring well on reading lessons. These alerts help teachers know when to step in and support right away.

How it works for the Students:

Students have access to their Quest activity under their Journey. They can review results from any Quest whenever they want.
